Blotting numbers 62 & 63 are a wash after either play but 7/3 7/1 creates an additional blotting number in 61. 7/3 7/1 adds 3 pips of unnecessary wastage for a short term gain. In all likelyhood, White will remain firm on the anchor thus exposing both sides to further wastage but the kicker, is White's shot equity gets a beefing up as a result. The basic PC after 8/4 8/2 is 78-82 with blue on roll. According to my own EPC estimate, the actual PC is 88-96!
