Yes, this is a curious one. the blitzing play wins more games and more gammons, but all of the safe plays come out ahead in the equity.
The only thing I can figure is that after the blitzing play followed by a dance, blue is too-good but with marginal gammon chances. This means he plays on and loses some of those games instead of just cashing after making one of the safe plays. But I'm not sure I've gotten this right and i look forward to seeing what the better players have to say.
