I might have made this mistake myself since I've made far dumber mistakes. However, most people in my playing group are obsessed with avoiding blotting on 66. Though I know they put far too much emphasis on this one idea, I can't help but hear their voices in my head in this kind of position. Though blotting on 66 isn't the whole story here, it does at least alert you to think twice. When I play, turning off my autopilot is half the battle when it comes to blunder avoidance.
