My pet name for it is the confusion clause!

Still, we have to take the world as we find it. For instance, the French (and others) did a wonderful job designing the metric system. But then they forgot (or lost the battle) to reform the silly Babylonian clock that we use.

24 hours, 60 minutes, 60 seconds? What the hell is that!? In a perfect world, time measurements (in SI) should be decimal.

For me, the only decision is whether to live apart from the crazy world, or take it as I find it. So, I continue to use the convenience clause, just the same as I do my wristwatch, although I would prefer to have neither.
