I did try my best to argue with Nack over the convenience clause back when it might still have been possible to change it, but I couldn't convince him. Stick and neilkaz sided with Nack as well. I'm sure that I have a lot more experience than any of them do with designing good notation, but my sense was that their (undeniably) greater understanding of how to play backgammon made them unwilling to listen to me.
