It may seem that some people are more obsessed with luck than others, but I think the two real differences are:
1. Some people are better at recognizing when they are lucky and when the are not.
2. Some people are more vocal about their luck (or lack thereof).
Recognizing your good or bad luck is one of the most important skills in backgammon. The fascinating thing about backgammon is that luck clouds good play. You have to be very careful not to learn the wrong lesson -- Was your good result due to superior play or superior luck? If you can't tell the difference, it's hard to improve. To deny that luck is a part of backgammon is to deny an important feature of the game. Let's celebrate luck and skill together, because that's what backgammon is.

I disagree. I have found that giving objective measures of luck reduces (quite markedly) the likelihood that players will perceive the dice as being biased.
