I'm just asking that we not bastardize the game just to appeal to the lowest common denominator

Lowest common denominator I believe makes up the majority of players today. Again, that is an opinion, if someone has some statistics to show that is wrong I'd like to see it (seriously). I think experts or anyone who plays on the ABT or any tournament is an exception to the rule, and not the norm.
