I once played a side event at a tournament in Japan that had the following rule: if you win the opening roll, you can reject it and reroll, with the cube starting on 2. (Both players reroll, so your opponent might win the opening reroll; and the reroll is only available once per game.) If you're trailing enough in the match, you should reject an opening 31!
