Hi storm,

thx for your question and sorry that I answer so late (I am moving to another town ;)).

Right - I implemented the FIBS CLI protocol. So far it is an almost perfect FIBS clone meaning that very few commands are missing and very few issues with clients are left.

My future plans are to implement new features like time control, chouette and so on. But also I will extend the protocol. Presently I extended it for bots to make their implementation more easy and maintainable. As to where to head with the protocol, I am not decided, yet. It may be a mere extension to access new features. It may also be a radical change. Work in progress.

The main problem I am facing is the lack of developers for existing clients. I have contact to many that work on new clients, but their progress is slow. Ok - they might implement a new or extended protocol. The most popular clients like Fibzilla and JavaFibs are sort of given up and won't be maintained any more (so is my information). If you have different news, let me know, please.

I am working on a concept for a HTML5 client with integration into Firefox Marketplace. I will do that in a free project and am looking for peer developers to join.

Time control is supposed to come soon. My first implementation will include a toggle to set time control, and a line on "the system-window" to tell the neccessary infos about time left and so on. It would not be much work to wrap this up in a CLI message. So developers of clients are welcome to contact me about it.

Merry Christmas Andreas
