Free Lesson--What I learned

I learned:

1. That as usual, you are right, which doesn't surprise me. Clearly you proved that at NMS the DMP play is almost always right and it's not too hard to identify when that is not the case.

2. I learned that you play better fast than I do slow. Some of the plays you made quickly with little thought I probably would have made, but I would have at least considered other plays for a while first. This proves that one advantage you have over the board over me (and most of us) is that for most plays you don't have to use as much mental energy as you are able to hone in on the best play more quickly. (I guess that is why the best players, with a few exceptions, are generally the best at speed gammon.)

I believe you would agree with me that where the DMP being the best play breaks down most often is when you get to the 5Away and down match scores and any score where the gammon values are high. I believe it would be an excellent lesson to see where the exceptions are in those scores and why you clearly don't make the DMP play. I know you say that even there it is surprising how often the DMP play is right, but I have found that often, learning the exceptions proves the point as well as studying the ones that are not exceptions.

Thanks for an excellent, free lesson.
