Jacoby Rule Brainteaser

There is a big difference in recommending rule changes for tournament play, where there are divisions that separate the skill levels, and rules for money play, where we have players of different levels.
In tournament play, I would love to see the game become more complicated and skill-based, as Nackgammon and the Simborg Rule do (in my opinion). That way, the game is more intellectually stimulating, particularly at the beginning of the game when many plays are pretty much "automatic" for Open players, and they lead to more complicated games overall.
In chouettes, I am in favor of rules that do not make it harder for the weaker players...they already have a huge disadvantage playing better players (without any handicap system), and many chouette rules also allow the better players to beat up on the weaker players (individual cubes and non-consulting and various box rules). So for chouette play, I favor rules that don't make it even harder for the weaker player. Why? Because I think it is more fun with more players; because weaker players can learn much from better players in chouettes, provided it is not terribly expensive to do so; and because I have seen how the pond gets empty once the fish have all been eaten alive.
