Bearing in against a holding game

There is one thing that is clear that John O' already mentioned, we don't want to leave any fly shots. The opponent's board is way too strong to take this unneeded risk. This narrows our scope of plays down considerably.
There is the speed gammon play that John settled on. We make the 5pt and then shove 7(2). We'd obviously love to have our 5pt and in leaving no shots the only other two aces are 'forced'. 2/1(2) is too fancy causing a little more wastage than needed in a race that is far from won and also creates a position where it will be tougher than it should be to attack once our opponent scurries off his anchor. That is of note here, he will be leaving his anchor sometime to maintain his racing equity. His front position is near capacity unless he wants to crunch, which he doesn't.
The QF play for me I would have also given fair consideration OtB. 13/12(3) 2/1. In bringing home holding game positions you have to ask yourself sometimes "Can I bring this position home without making X point? Do I really need that point?" That point is typically one in front of a high anchor like here.
This play does get 3 crossovers for the race (though fails to fill in the gap on the 5pt) Most importantly it leaves us a lot of spares to use in a fully flexible position while also covering our ace point with the dilly builder. What happens with the other play sometimes is you roll small numbers immediately and they can be quite awkward. (or nines) It is also so much harder to hit/attack anything when the opp. runs off the anchor because of that damn blot on the ace point.
The QF play gets my seal of approval, 13/12(3) 2/1.
