Thank you all who showed me interest in this project.
Before we proceed or commit anything, here is my attitude to the project.
1) Not try to be perfect.
Although I try to learn all 3rd rolls, I don't want to be a perfectionist. I hate to make a large mistake (more than 0.02) but I can live with a small mistake (less than 0.01). My main goal is to understand the opening phrase to improve my entire game and not to remember the tiny little differences to state others that I remembered them all.2) XG++ is a default.
I wouldn't make a rollout unless I am very interested in doing so. Time is limited and rollout simply eats it too much.3) Money game is enough.
I can't remember for all scores. Also score related situations are much less likely to happen compare to a normal money situation.If you are still want to work with me, how we should proceed?
The below is what I did to learn 3rd roll started with 64S opening.
1) Create a spread sheet which shows all 3rd roll variation starting from 64S. Moves are analyzed by XG++ unless I am very interested in doing a rollout or finding a result from this site.
2) In a process 1), I must encounter many interesting decisions. I make a note and try to reason each plays or group of plays. Interesting plays are nactated in a bold font.
3) I use Anki software to remember all mistakes or potential mistakes. Anki is a free flash card software which helps your remembering. http://ankisrs.net/
4) I pay more attention to real backgammon game if it starts with 64S!
I think 1) and 3) are easily shared as a group task while 2) and 4) are not. Any opinion?
