New Jersey Masters: Falafel vs Senk

Position 1. It is easy to figure out what Falafel played from the next diagrams, and I was leaning that way myself, not sure what I would have done OTB. With Stick's comments in mind, it is easy to figure out why that is wrong.
Position 2. It went double and take here, which looks right to me. The double is obvious. The take not so, but Falafel is ahead in the race, board strengths are equal, and his checkers can still get out, so double and close take looks right.
Position 3. I'd keep the anchor and I'd keep large numbers blocked to the extent I can (we play with two dice so some of the 5s and 6s escape anyway) and would not leave anything, so I'd play 9/8 6/4.
7/5 6/5 is interesting; it fills in the gap on the 5 point and threatens to make a 5 prime, but it also leaves 5s and 6s to escape with a hit. Falafel's board and structure are weak enough that getting a third checker sent back does not hurt too much, but the escape and destruction of the slot are not too happy. I would not make the play but can see the rationale.
