White is Player 2
score: 1
pip: 1515 point match pip: 103
score: 1
Blue is Player 1XGID=aBCB-BBb----bA-b-bCbb-b---:0:0:1:00:1:1:0:5:10 Blue on roll, cube action? A couple of observations:
- A doubled gammon could win the match for Blue, but his cube is potentially gammicidal. If White takes, his subsequent recube kills Blue’s gammons.
- White is in the awkward position of owning seven different points. As things stand, 43 is the only entering number that can be played blot-free.
Usually, my inclination is to take when I can enter on a high point, and not be threatened with attack there. It looks like Blue will be leaving some blots of his own in the near future, so an unmolested entry in the next roll or two should even the game out. In this case, however, the high probability of leaving another blot outside, where it will be in direct range of one of Blue’s points, is enough to induce a pass. There are too many gammon losses.
