XG as gift

Yes, you can purchase it on one computer and give it is a gift for use on another. The only issue would be that if you purchased XG, installed it AND activated it on your machine and then gave it as a gift. In that case you'd need to deactivate it from the original system before giving it to the recipient. This is at least my experience (since I have transferred licenses from one machine to the next in the past). The activation (and deactivation) manager can be found via the Help Menu/Registration.../Activation manager button.
