Inspired by your idea, I moved the cube to White’s side (at 2), and played this out 25 times. Because I had XG set on Tutor Mode, there were very few mistakes. This position is a very interesting execise in scrambling.

Spoiler Alert: Stop reading now if you do not want to know the results.

White won 5 times with the cube on 2, including 1 gammon.

White redoubled 7 games, usually in desperation, with a gammon loss looming, and a pending shot at a Blue blot. White lost them all.

Blue won the remaining 13 games (with the cube on 2), including 7 gammons.

Interestingly, Blue rolled more than his share of doublets 33 in this sample, but won close to half the time even after that disaster.
