The obvious move is to make the six-prime, but then Black might anchor and we'd have to trap. So hitting to prevent Black from anchoring is the next obvious possibility. This could backfire though since Black has a four-point board and could win going forwards by leaping our incomplete prime while we struggle to enter and come around the board again.

It seems to come down to the question, if Black rolls something that allows her to move a checker to our 4pt, then which is worse, for her to anchor against our six-prime there or for her to hit us there when we have only a five-prime? I find this difficult to judge, but I think it's probably worse for her to anchor, because then we'll still have to engage in an attack a few rolls from now, when Black will still have a good board—and that's the favorable scenario, when we successfully force Black off the anchor. So I hit.

There's still the question of how to hit. I think we really want to try to play purely, keeping a five-prime and not putting any checkers out of play. The purest play is 18/16 10/4*. It looks scary but we don't care too much if our 3pt blot is hit so I think it's not as risky as it looks at first glance.
