The DMP play is to hit and run with 23/18x - 12. 23/18x 14/8 leaves one fewer blot but it looks weaker to me. 18x - 12 would be my play at a moneylike score since I think extra wins/extra gammon losses is at least close to 1/2. ATS, the trailer's 2-cube gammon value is around .6 which makes it a closer call. I'd still hit and run though.
