Who said anything about high stakes. I also said "If I am going to spend money", I am saying that this is my opinion about how I'd spend my money. I wouldn't go to live events to turn a profit, I'd be going to meet the people. My reason for showing up may be a whole lot different than yours. I know many intermediate and beginner players who do play on the ABT with the same thinking. Again, I think that people on this board too often assume that the motivations of an expert are the same for the lower divisions.
