Manual Rollout

I was going to do 36 games but I got tired of playing at 30 games.
- I won 7 regular games with the cube on 2 (14pts)
- I won 9 gammons with the cube on 2 (36pts)
- I won 1 backgammon with the cube on 2 (6pts)
Total of 56pts from the 17 games I won.
- I lost 9 games dropping a recube (-18pts)
- I lost 3 games after taking a recube (-12pts)
Total of -30pts in the 12 games I lost.
The astute reader may notice I said I played 30 games and we're only up to 29, I wanted to cover game #30 by itself. I lost a gammon on a legit 16 cube! Should have had the cube cap turned on so it wouldn't affect my results so much, but it happened.
These games were played against Snowie 3 ply and after I analyzed my play on 3 ply. I played it out fairly decent, some minor errors here and there, but no gross errors. What seemed to happen almost immediately was me taking the 5pt or me fighting for the 5pt (via a double hit, loose on the deuce) Generally I won the fight for the 5pt but you turn right around and have a well time very playable 12, 13, or even 23 backgame, though the 12 backgame was by far the most common. Your timing is near perfect with little worry of crashing.
The worst thing you often end up with is a stacked up ace point game. Even this isn't hopeless. Sure, it loses a ton of Gs but your checkers are all in play and if you do hit one of those final shots it could be a game winner.
If you're bored I'd recommend playing it out a few times, it's one of those instructive positions.
