Explained in my initial reply to opening post.
What I meant was, what exactly does Magriel say, i.e., a verbatim quote? I'm surprised to hear that he says never to make the 23pt; does the context place any restrictions on "never," such as in the early phase of the game or something? I mean, if you're playing a backgame and desperately need a second anchor, and have the opportunity to make the 23pt, I can't imagine Magriel insisting that you should stay split.
Mom? Is that you?
Perhaps it will help if I explain the purpose behind the custom?
Bots are so powerful that there is an enormous difference between what people will say prior to seeing any bot info and what people will say after seeing bot info. Many people, including myself, find it valuable to hear others' pre-bot opinions. For instance, your initial post here was much more interesting to me than most posts on this forum since it was clear that you were giving your own honest assessment of the position without being "tainted" by looking at a bot. It's nice to know before clicking on a post whether it's going to contain a "spoiler."
Now in this particular case, it's been some time since the original post, so it's no big deal for you to start giving some bot info. I just thought you might like to be aware of the conventions here. By the way, in case you think that this is something I just made up in order to boss people around with my own preferences, see this post by Chuck Bower for example. Chuck was responding to a post where the subject line had been changed to something that revealed bot info, which was even more of a spoiler than usual.
