It seems to me that Blue's primary objective should be to make some outfield points and start bringing everyone around together. Do you see the loose hit as working toward that goal? If missed, Blue will be trying to make the point next turn, meaning he will be distracted from his back men. If hit, that's one more checker to bring around, plus half a roll lost consolidating in the outfield.

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing here (I'd have played 18/13, establishing an asset that connects my army), and I can easily see hitting being correct. I'm just trying to understand your thinking and what led you to it, and away from playing the whole roll with the back men.
