Priming seems thematic to me, so the hitting play would seem to be the qf play for me, but I cannot imagine it being right. I would have played 13/4 OTB without much though. 13/8 13/9 (which leaves 2 more shots if I can count correctly) is an interesting approach, but I am not sure it leaves a better position when missed. After all, the 4 point is really important here and you can cover it more often if you slot it. The potential to make the 8 or 9 point here is less important, and I am not sure if it does or does not outweigh the extra chances of making the 4. However after 13/4 white's hits also fully or partially escape her last checker and therefore are much more costly for blue. After 13/8 13/9 only 16 34 35 hit and escape and 16 & 34 will leave at least 4 immediate return shots. Also in many variations where white hits with a 1 and then blue enters quickly, white might have problem bringing his 2 checkers home and escaping the third simultaneously. So white's hits would not be that advantageous after 13/8 13/9 in comparison with 13/4. Therefore after reading your post and considering 13/8 13/9 I believe it is the correct play as well, but for different reasons.
