If Blue makes the 1pt, and then White rolls 2, Blue will be under pressure to respond immediately with a roll that hits. If Blue makes his bar point instead, and White rolls a 2, Blue will be better off because White will be facing a 5-point block. And if White rolls a 1 and hits, Blue may find that White’s block crumbles while Blue either dances or else enters and escapes. After covering the 7pt, Blue should play the final 2 down to the 3pt, so that he does not duplicate the 4 that he needs on the other side of the board. Mike
