Somewhat surprisingly, this one is a toss-up. I thought spreading the spares with 8/7 6/5(3) would win hands down.
If you count the semi-active checkers on the 8pt as a builders, spreading gives you three builders to make an inside point. More importantly, Blue is not planning to break his 7pt any time soon, so reinforcing it with a spare does not overstack it.
I would call this a reference position, except I don’t know of what!
