White lacks timing for an effective backgame (she needs about 20 more pips) so I don't think the early blot play is the right idea. That said, 9/7 8/7 is worth considering and I won't be surprised if it's right.

I'll go for 9/7 6/5 - expose no blots, stay even ended, prepare to clear the 8 next roll, and depend on the spares on the 5,6, and 7 to forestall blotting numbers.
