...I now think that 6/5 is much better than 7/6. It "looks wrong" and it hands White a higher probability of a confusing "hit or not?" decision.

At least, that would be my advice in live play. Online, 6/5 will get you accused of cheating (i.e., using a bot), and although that may pay off in the short term because your opponent may get angry, getting a reputation for cheating will probably backfire in the long run.
