Backgames are funny sometimes, so maybe it's correct to eschew the hit here, but after making the 9 point, white is stuck behind a 5 prime with 70 pips of timing. That looks pretty good for blue.

OTOH, 15/7 14/6 really destroys white's timing while placing useful spares on higher points. Plus, making the 9 is just making a point that will need to be cleared soon.

I'm going to slide past here with 15/7 14/6 and let white crunch. No idea if it's better than hitting.
