I think it can be done. I think it will be done. It may not happen soon. I don't think that money is the issue. There are better ways to make money. Someone will break 2.0 who simply has the drive to be that strong. This is most likely to happen if two players break away from the pack at once. Players tend to think in terms of who is the best while ignoring the more important question, "How strong could I become?" It is my impression that some of our elite are satisfied to be loosely in the same category as the others at the top. But, they would not be comfortable if they were clearly a notch back. If one decides to "go for it", others will follow.
