Right—or rather, if his real job were backgammon. Right now, backgammon simply isn't a real job, the way pro sports is a real job for example.
In response to higonefive, I agree that passion is necessary. It is, however, often not sufficient.
Money is neither necessary nor sufficient but there are many people who have the passion but who for economic reasons do not or cannot spend all their time on their passion.
