Blue doesn't want to get hit back. There are situations when Blue wants to get hit in order to improve his timing, but this isn't one of them. Blue would be delighted to see White dance so that he can escalate his attack.

The point is that Blue doesn't mind getting hit back because White's board is so weak. At the same time, Blue definitely wants to prevent White from getting a second anchor. The gain is huge when Blue is not hit back and the loss is modest when Blue is hit back.
