Further info regarding the dead cube rule

There is some symmetry with the rules about cube turns in the Crawford game (5.5) and the Dead Cube rule (5.6). In both of these situations, the cube should never be turned by either side, either because it's 'against the rules' (Crawford) or because it has no meaning (effective DMP games). By having these rules in place that make cube actions in these games have no effect, it removes the motivation to take a 'free shot' by doubling to see if they can get a cube taken incorrectly (by the 1-away player at Crawford) or dropped incorrectly (in a DMP game).
However, when the match is not necessarily over after this game, there is no 'free shot' available. At 2-away, 4-away, with 2-away holding a 2-cube, doubling and trying to get a bogus pass (to end the match) carries the risk of the opponent knowing the score and taking correctly.
