Memorizing reference positions

I don't think everyone is on the same page as to what constitutes a reference position. I consider it any position that I may use as a reference to help me with a decision while playing. That means that the opening roll, all the replies, all the third rolls I have stocked up in my head are reference positions. That wildly exceeds twenty and may even take me to 4 digits.

There are also the more standard reference positions where I can extrapolate to other similar positions. Take the 3 positions below where I know how many gammons are lost. I can extrapolate the checker anywhere in between those points and know the gammon figure or even put multiple checkers in the outfield and give a dead accurate estimate thanks to those positions.

I also don't have a reference position for a 20pt or 21pt or 22pt anchor holding game memorized per say but I have in the past (while giving lessons) noted that I could set up a position where I know it would be a borderline take/pass and I did it on the spot. Then there are the early game blitz reference positions which well exceed 20 also that I know the proper cube action and win/gammon breakdowns.

Whatever the number is on how many reference positions a person could know as I've defined it, I'll take the over.
