This is not addressed specifically by the rules, but I would have to rule the illegal position stands and the game continues as is. Positions where you (illegally) have less than 15 checkers have been addressed, either through an invalid setup or a checker being removed from play illegally.

I have no idea if you are the favorite or underdog if you play with 17 checkers against 15.
