"In fact, if you believe that money play tends to be easier than match play, then long matches have a potential advantage over short matches, in that a larger percentage of the decisions should be "money-like."

I think short matches of say 5 points would definitely be easier to average under a given threshold than say 17 point matches. There will be a bunch of dead cubes which means no cube errors and races get played out.
