I would just play 8/3.

Saving the spare might be the right idea, but if we roll a 6, then playing it 8/2 is going to be ugly anyway. Depending on how things unfold, we might actually prefer to clear the 8pt with a 6 and make a nice board.

If the decision turns out to be close, then I'm not completely sure I trust a rollout since the computer sometimes makes some very odd bearing-in plays that it will overturn if you ask it more closely.
