Yep..directors Barry and Ed did a good job but the format needs to be a bit different next year.
I suggest taking a look at the European and Chiva method of Fighter's Bracket for DE rather than this format. I am not sure but that may shave off a round.
Anyhow 11/9/7 rather than 11/11/9 would help and clocks 2/12 or 2/13 rather than 2/15 would likely save a few minutes/average match.
Perhaps Fighter's Bracket ie last two from no loss and last two with one loss are final 4 is best and with Fighter's being 7 pt?
I'd also like to point out that some one from staff ie a director should be occasionally walking around the playing room..ie making sure all matches that are supposed to be clocked are using a clock rather than not starting the clock.
It was apparent to me that this event was running slowly quite early but from no apparent fault of the directors. I have no idea what happened but will note that we started no later than 10 minutes after the scheduled early start of 10:30 and yet one 3 rd match wasn't completed by the dinner break !! I suggest next year insisting that all 3rd matches be completed before players can go to dinner and note that there's at least 10 more than acceptable places to eat within less than a couple hundred meters walk.
I can't imagine that I could be near our nation's capitol and have such a nice suite for $74. I couldn't arrange to come early this time, but next year, I hope to see some DC sites.
