Yes it is very important...But do you want to sacrifice all your asset to get that checker back?...what about gammon losses ...you don not consider it AtS with this decision...? Moreover he has got only one blot in his home board(not too many). So, even if you were hit ...the possibility to get that checker back it is not that high ....Plus, you have already had excellent outfield coverage...So, you are very likely to get a direct shot in your next turns....Still I do not understand how did you ignore these risks...

Sometimes the best way to save a gammon is to just win the game. If I can shut out two checkers, my chances of doing that go way up. Even if I can't shut two out, just hitting the second checker increases my chances of shutting out one of them and makes it harder for him to simply roll a 55 or 66 at some point and run home and off.
