These are the dimensions of the wooden FM Backgammon boards, which are modeled after the Taki board. They are a very nice, full-sized board and are typical of tournament backgammon boards:
Open 24.5 inches X 20.5 inches (62 X 52 cm)
Closed: 12.2 X 20.5 inches (31 X 52 cm)
The checkers are 4.45 cm (1.75 inches)
If you go to the gammon village store web site you will see the full dimensions of their full sized leather boards, which are a little smaller than the FM boards:
The USBGF provides sets to students at a highly discounted price. These are "leatherette" boards that are 18" wide and they suffice very nicely for tournament play.
