As in most things, it depends... but I've always thought clocks hurt someone like me the most. A very strong player can work through a lot of these things quickly and confidently. A weak player lacks the knowledge to do so. I'm somewhere in the middle, where I have some knowledge, but it takes me quite some time to walk through everything and even then I'm not sure I have it right.
