All I know is, anchoring loses fewer gammons

Anchor and slot the 5 seems almost automatic. The race is pretty even, so I don't see the need to hang back and maintain contact. That bloated midpoint will have to crack before too long so put an anchor in range of it. And if blue can shake big doubles he can leap into a commanding racing lead.
If white still had a checker back I'd consider making the bar point, but as there is currently nothing to block that point isn't as valuable as usual. Slotting both 5 and bar is worth considering too, but I like the GP better.
Is there something special about this match score? Blue will be a bit more eager to cube and can take deeper, but I don't see how that would affect this checker play. Perhaps provoking a volatile position with some gammon chances and then turning the cube so blue's gammons are very valuable and white's are useless is the right idea. But once the 20 point is made white probably won't cube (at least for a long time) so that's a good argument in favor of 24/20.
24/20 6/5.
