"But once the 20 point is made white probably won't cube (at least for a long time) so that's a good argument in favor of 24/20." Are you afraid of White cubing AtS if he getting an attack going when you aren't anchored? No way will White cube and kill his G's and get recubed to 4 from an attack position.
Anchoring is very bad AtS.. possibly a blunder. AtS you worry about the gammons you can win (as they often come with the cube on 2 or the threat to win one forces a pass) much more than those you may lose with a centered cube.
