Crisloid boards

In Response To: Crisloid boards (leobueno)

I bought this model, used, about 10 years ago for $90 (I think). It's comfortable to play on, reasonably attractive (you get what you pay for, on both accounts), and I'd consider paying full price for a new one if I ever need to replace it. (I only use it at home and don't play a lot of live games, so it's still in great shape.)

That said, it's not a very rugged set (again, you get what you pay for), and I doubt it would hold up well if you traveled a lot with it or banged it around much. The outer covering is fairly thin, vinyl-like material, so I'd expect tears and scratches to take their toll. I've never had any trouble with the hardware (hinges, latches, etc.) but I suspect they, too, wouldn't hold up to the wear and tear of traveling and "high mileage."

I consider it a serviceable set, certainly plenty good for my needs, and well worth the money, but I'd probably spend a little extra to buy a more durable, more attractive board, if I planned to take my act on the road much.

I second Chuck's recommendation about going through CJC. She patiently explained all the options (color, transparency, size, corner design, etc.) when I was looking for precision dice and helped me find some that compliment the board nicely. She's also a nice lady, which is something I put a premium on.

Let us know what you ultimately decide and how you like it.
