How many pro BG players?

Jake, you say that after some nasty experiences in backgammon you did some soul searching, and started "thinking a bit more about what we were doing to each other, and to ourselves." Not wanting to continue doing those things to your friends and acquaintances, you started working, and now you hardly play backgammon at all.

But doesn't your job, the one that keeps you too busy to play backgammon, have something to do with gambling? Correct me if I am wrong, but might it involve doing the same things to people you don't know that you did not want to do to people you did know?
