How many pro BG players?

My guess is that the people making the greatest living playing backgammon are those that play with their very wealthy buddies at exclusive country clubs, etc. These players have no incentive to establish names for themselves. I know of at least two country clubs where $500 to $1000 chouettes have been played regularly. I know of one player that won over 15 million dollars at one of these clubs. There are also very big games going on between a couple of billionaires that would dwarf those at the country clubs, but that doesn't count, since neither participant makes their living playing backgammon.

I think there are probably a couple of hundred people that make a solid living playing backgammon, but, likely, more of them are unknown, or little known, than known.
