How many pro BG players?

I have a problem with directly taking full advantage of someone's addiction, if doing so causes them great harm. By full advantage, I mean going for the throat and trying to win more money than they can comfortably afford to lose.

Would you feel okay about hustling someone that has a wife and four kids and has a gambling problem that will result in him losing much more money than he can afford to lose? Obviously, people with gambling problems will often find some other method or person to lose it to if you do not take advantage of them. Does that make it okay? If you would feel okay, would you still feel that way if the person in question was a friend? Where do you draw the line, if you do?

I know a few people that bet on sports and while some of the money they have won has definitely come from people that have gambling problems, it is not something they directly see and not something they can control. I think most of the money comes from people that gamble for entertainment. They want to watch a sporting event and make it a little more interesting. Very similar to playing in a chouette where most of the members are playing for social or entertainment reasons. Not that different from going to a movie or a concert, as their expected entertainment expense will be affordable. Of course, there are exceptions.

I am not trying to tell others how they should feel, but I would have more respect for a fellow backgammon player that chose to not take full advantage of the addictive behavior of someone, if doing so would cause that person great harm.
