The problem with rock bottoms is that, although pretty hard places, they're not so easily defined or predicted. One man's rock bottom could be when he sees his children starving, another's could be further down the road, after he's turned to crime and realises, from the fresh bullet groove in his shoulder, or worse, that he's in real danger of getting himself killed.
