The advantage of a rollout is that it gives you a better estimate of how large the equity difference between plays is. If I'm going to try to generalize the lesson I learn here, it helps somewhat to know if a difference is closer to 0.02 or closer to 0.04, for example, and a truncated rollout isn't as trustworthy for that kind of information.

But you're right in the sense that the main reason I asked for a rollout wasn't so much that I felt I "needed" one; I just figured that for a third-roll position, there might already be a rollout sitting out there free for the taking, and if so why not grab it?
