I'm taking a stab here but when your opponent has a 5pt or 6pt board it's safety first (6/off 6/1). Here I think we're in grey area. If he had a 3pt board I'd rip two without much thought. As it is I think I still rip, though it's probably close. If you are hit it will help to have the extra checker off, if you aren't hit, more gammons! Win win [ignoring the safety issue of course lol]
